Snack Coin is not a name retrofitted to Robinhood. The trail starts with MarketSnacks, runs through the community Robinhood called Snackers, and lands on a 2021 product demo where Robinhood put Snack Coin and SNCK on an app screen.

2012

MarketSnacks makes finance digestible

Jack Kramer and Nick Martell started MarketSnacks outside their bank jobs. Their idea was simple: financial news should be accessible, enjoyable, and quick enough to finish with a coffee.

2019

Robinhood buys the first round

MarketSnacks became Robinhood's first company acquisition. Robinhood relaunched the newsletter and podcast as Robinhood Snacks, bringing digestible financial media into the same world as a new generation of investors.

2020

Robinhood calls them Snackers

When the Snacks Daily podcast passed ten million downloads, Robinhood thanked “all our Snackers.” Vlad Tenev called them “our passionate community of Snackers.” The nickname came with MarketSnacks and became part of Robinhood's own vocabulary.

2021

Snack Coin appears in the app

In a product walkthrough published on September 22, Robinhood demonstrated crypto recurring investments with a fictional asset named Snack Coin, ticker SNCK. The flow showed its chart, order types, purchase schedule, and confirmation screen. The coin was a demo, but the name and ticker were real Robinhood product history.

Now / On Robinhood Chain

Robinhood Chain is now live as a permissionless, Ethereum-compatible Layer 2. Its open design gives community builders a place to deploy without waiting for a listing or an invitation.
